The Leaders Program is designed to support and foster growth in students who want to develop their abilities as leaders. Building on students’ previous experiences with leadership and service, the curriculum of the Leaders Program guides students through activities and experiences that help students identify their personal strengths and values, develop skills required to lead others toward a common goal, and garner the resources required to implement a vision for the greater good.
The Leaders Program has three components: Level One activities that develop new competencies built on natural strengths, Level Two activities that empower change through community engagement, and a student-driven practicum.

Level 1 Workshops & Requirements
(new competencies built on natural strengths) To complete Level 1, students must also:
- Complete the Leadership Competencies Pretest
- Complete the Strengths Quest inventory
- Participate in a minimum of 6 hours of leadership observation
- Participate in a minimum of 6 hours of community service
- Attend all Peer Leadership Workshops
- Participate in the Group Debrief
Level 2 Workshops & Requirements
(empower change through community engagement) To complete Level 2, students must also:
- Co-facilitate one meeting or co-lead one service project
- Fully participate in the Facilitative Leadership workshop
- Participate as the Lead Facilitator for one or more meetings or as the lead coordinator
- for one or more service projects
- Participate in Critical Friends meeting circles
- Participate in the Peer Led Debrief
Practicum Workshops & Requirements
For Ethical Leadership Certification, one of the following:
For Active Citizenship Certification, one of the following:
For either certification, students must also
- Work with a faculty/staff/community mentor
- Develop and implement a Leadership or Service Capstone Project
- Provide Assessment of Capstone Project
- Transfer experience through obtaining Letters of Recommendation, References, and a resume description from community partners or mentor.
Note:
Students who successfully complete both levels of the Leaders Program and the practicum requirements (1) earn credit for up to three Wellness program dimension requirements, (2) receive special recognition at Honor’s Day and graduation, (3) receive a statement of certification on their co-curricular transcript, and (4) are eligible for campus leadership positions. |
