SCD 338 - Comparative Economic Thought

3 Credits


Students will critically examine contending economic theories as they developed out of the Industrial Revolution to today. In this reading-intensive course, students situate seminal works in historical context, analyze the logical and ethical grounds on which theories compete, and engage with contemporary ecological, feminist, and human development perspectives. The course will focus on how economic ideas inform understandings of progress and development. Prerequisite: Any 200-level SCD or SOC course.
